It has been established that the offender was distributing drugs by making “bookmarks” in the district center. He faces imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property.
The 23-year-old resident of Chervonohrad was exposed by operatives of the criminal police jointly with investigators of the Chervonohrad District Police Department.
Law enforcement officers found the places of “bookmarks”, and during an authorized search, they found and seized from the offender rolls, packages and a jar with a substance similar to the drug methadone, ready-made “bookmarks” with the same substance, electronic scales, packaging equipment and other material evidence of involvement in illegal activities.
All seized items were sent for expert examination to the Lviv Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
The offender was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural supervision of the Chervonohrad District Prosecutor’s Office, served him a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 2 of Art. 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The maximum penalty provided by the sanction of the article is imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint against the suspect.
