The perpetrator was exposed by operatives of the criminal police and investigators of the Chervonograd district police department together with internal and internal security employees of the State Border Service of Ukraine, under the procedural guidance of the Chervonograd district prosecutor’s office.
The law enforcement officers documented several facts of sale of narcotic substances by a 43-year-old resident of Chervonograd and on April 3 around 2:00 p.m. they detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code after selling “cannabis” to another “client” in the district center. Force support was provided by fighters of the Dozor mobile border detachment.
During the authorized search, the law enforcement officers seized from the intruder substances of plant origin similar to “cannabis”, a significant amount of funds in various currencies, proceeds from illegal activities and other physical evidence, which were sent for expert examination.
Investigators of the territorial division of the police informed the detainee of suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 2 of Article 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, forwarding or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment provided by the sanction of the article is imprisonment for a term of up to ten years with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, the law enforcement officers will request that the suspect be remanded in custody.
