The detainee, a 22-year-old resident of Novoyavorivsk, faces up to ten years in prison for the crime. It was also established that the conflict between the men took place while drinking alcohol.
As the employees of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 and operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Lviv Oblast found on December 16, on the territory of one of the warehouses located on Chernivtsi Street in Lviv, between a 22-year-old resident of the city of Novoyavorivsk and a 69-year-old resident of Kirovohrad Oblast, who was temporarily in the territory of Lviv region, a conflict arose while drinking alcohol.
During the fight, the younger man hit the older man several times in the head. The victim died from his injuries, and his body was soon discovered by an employee of the enterprise, who informed the law enforcement officers about it.
An investigative and operative group, a dog handler, operatives of the criminal police and employees of other divisions of the territorial division of the police worked at the scene. Through the conducted measures, the law enforcement officers identified the intruder, passed on information about him to all territorial units of the police, and soon detained him at one of the checkpoints through which he tried to escape from Lviv.
Investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of Lviv District Police Department No. 2, under the procedural guidance of the Frankiv District Prosecutor’s Office, informed the detainee of the suspicion of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of seven to ten years.
The perpetrator was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and soon the court will choose a preventive measure for him.
