The perpetrators – a 32-year-old resident of the city of Khyriv, a 30-year-old resident of Lviv and a 33-year-old resident of the city of Rava-Ruska – were exposed by operatives of the Migration Police Department and the Department of Criminal Analysis in the Lviv Region together with investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1, under the procedural guidance Galicia District Prosecutor’s Office.
As the law enforcement officers established, at noon on December 19, the suspects entered an apartment located in one of the buildings on Levytskyi Street in Lviv, where a 34-year-old man lived. Using physical force and measures of psychological influence, they forced the man to submit to their will, took him out of the apartment and put him in a Škoda car, intending to forcefully deliver him to the so-called “rehabilitation center.”
On the way to the facility, the attackers’ car was stopped by police officers on patrol, and operatives detained them in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The man, who was illegally deprived of liberty, was released by the law enforcement officers.
The investigators informed the detainees about the suspicion of committing a crime, provided for in Part 2 of Article 146 (Illegal deprivation of liberty or kidnapping of a person) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article envisages a punishment – restriction of freedom for a term of up to five years or deprivation of liberty for the same term.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and soon the court will choose precautionary measures for the suspects.
