Under the procedural leadership of the prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the pre-trial investigation was completed and an indictment was sent to the court against the chief state inspector of one of the customs posts of the Lviv Customs Service of the State Customs Service on the fact of receiving an illegal benefit (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
As we reported earlier, the employee received 8,800 US dollars from a woman from Lviv for ensuring the unhindered movement of gold bars across the state border of Ukraine to the Republic of Poland. In particular, the accused promised to help transport almost 2.5 kg of precious metals outside of customs control, without appropriate documentary evidence of their origin.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
