The case concerning the illegal production of tobacco products has reached the court in Lviv. The indictment, submitted by the prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, involves three individuals who are members of an organized group. They are accused of illegal manufacture, storage, and transportation of tobacco products for further distribution.
According to the investigation, these individuals organized the production of counterfeit cigarettes in an underground workshop located in Vinnytsia. There, equipment was installed for producing goods on an industrial scale, with fake labels of well-known brands. During the searches, a large quantity of tobacco products without excise stamps and other physical evidence were found. In particular, over 51,000 packs of cigarettes and more than 3 tons of tobacco were seized, with the total value of the confiscated property being about 7 million hryvnias.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by detectives of the territorial administration of the Bureau of Economic Security in Lviv region with operational support from the Specialized Services of the National Police of Ukraine.
According to the Constitution of Ukraine, the accused have the right to defense and are considered innocent until their guilt is proven by a court verdict.
