During customs control at the ‘Shehyni’ border crossing, the 7th Carpathian detachment officers along with customs officials discovered valuable ancient books hidden within a vehicle. A 43-year-old driver from Bukovina, crossing the border into Ukraine in a ‘Mercedes’ vehicle, was transporting six antique books, dated 1724, 1850, and 1867, in the luggage compartment.
According to the driver’s statement, these books were purchased in Germany and were meant to be sent by mail to a recipient in Ukraine. Customs officers confiscated these rare editions for necessary expertise.
