The total value of the drugs seized from the perpetrator, at black market prices, is about 3 million hryvnias.
The perpetrator, a 32-year-old resident of Kharkov, who temporarily lives in Lviv, was exposed by the employees of the Cybercrime Countermeasures Office in the Lviv region together with the criminal investigation operatives of the Lviv Oblast Police and investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 under the procedural guidance of the Galicia District Prosecutor’s Office.
As the law enforcement officers established, the perpetrator sent narcotic substances and psychotropic substances to different regions of Ukraine.
On May 18, the police detained a woman on Solomiya Krushelnytska Street in Lviv during the commission of a crime. A cardboard box containing ready-to-distribute zip-top bags wrapped in black tape containing substances that appeared to be narcotics and psychotropics was discovered and seized from her.
During the urgent searches conducted at the place of residence of the drug detective, the police found a large number of narcotic substances and psychotropic substances, outwardly similar to “hashish”, “cannabis”, “MDMA”, drug-containing pills, as well as electronic scales, zip bags for packing drugs and other physical evidence of illegal activity.
The total value of the seized, at black market prices, is about 3 million hryvnias.
Everything removed is directed to expert research.
The perpetrator was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention facility.
The investigators informed the drug trafficker about the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 2 of Article 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, forwarding or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of six to ten years with confiscation of property.
A pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The law enforcement officers establish the channel of entry of drugs and psychotropic substances, as well as the persons involved in this.
