The jewellery was found in a Mercedes minibus, which was heading to Ukraine.
At the Krakivets checkpoint, border guards together with customs officers found 24 pieces of white and yellow metal jewellery, as well as Cartier bracelets.
The 47-year-old native of Chernivtsi chose the “green corridor” lane, which indicated that he had no items subject to declaration or restricted for movement across the border. However, during the inspection of the vehicle, 24 pieces of white and yellow metal jewellery, as well as three Cartier bracelets, were found in a cardboard box on the top luggage rack. The estimated value of the found items exceeds one million hryvnias.
According to the driver, the found items were a parcel that he had picked up in Poland and was supposed to return in Lviv.
Customs officers seized the undeclared goods and drew up a report on violation of customs regulations.
