Due to the fault of drivers driving vehicles while intoxicated, 346 traffic accidents occurred on the highways of Lviv and the region (76 of which resulted in casualties), as a result of which 13 people died and 109 were injured.
Christmas, New Year and other winter holidays are ahead, which traditionally involve a feast with drinking alcohol, after which some drivers allow themselves to drive vehicles in a drunken state, sometimes causing traffic accidents.
Law enforcement officers remind that a drunk driver poses a potential threat to all road users. Even the smallest doses of alcohol affect the human body: coordination of movements, speed of reaction, vision are impaired. This necessarily affects driving a car – the driver cannot adequately assess the road situation, react to its changes in time, which leads to road accidents, often with injuries and deaths.
After all, all possible consequences of driving vehicles by drivers who are in a state of alcohol intoxication are provided for by current legislation, in particular, Article 130 (Driving vehicles or vessels by persons who are in a state of alcohol, narcotic or other intoxication or under the influence of drugs , which reduce their attention and speed of reaction) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses and Article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road traffic safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
So in no case do not get behind the wheel if you are in an intoxicated state. We also appeal to passengers – never get into a car if you suspect that it is being driven by an intoxicated driver!
