As early as this spring, all prescription drugs in Ukraine will begin to be dispensed by electronic prescription.
In this way, in accordance with European integration processes, control over the dispensing of prescription drugs in pharmacies is ensured, as well as the process of prescribing drugs is optimized, which becomes more transparent and efficient.
In order for the patient to be able to get an e-prescription for medicine from any doctor and pay it off at any pharmacy, the heads of medical and pharmacy institutions should take care of connecting to the national electronic health care system (EHS) in advance by March 31, 2023.
Today, more than 1.3 thousand medical and about 1.2 thousand pharmacy institutions of Lviv Oblast are already working in the electronic health care system.
In order to register a medical facility, pharmacy or doctor-FOP in the ESOZ, first of all, it is necessary to choose a medical information system (MIS) – these are special software developed by Ukrainian companies and ensure the entry of data into the ESOZ. You can familiarize yourself with the list of medical information systems and the detailed algorithm for registration of an institution in the ESOZ on the system’s website.
The e-prescribing mechanism is already familiar to doctors and pharmacists who work with e-prescriptions as part of the Affordable Medicines reimbursement program and prescribe antibiotics or painkillers to patients. At the same time, it will also be simple and understandable for those who are just starting to work with the electronic health care system. For this purpose, appropriate educational materials are always available on the “NSZU Academy” and MIS platform.
Doctors of all specialties of state, communal or private clinics, or a doctor-FOP, will be able to write out an e-prescription. And for this institution, it is not necessary to conclude a contract with the NSZU.
Please note that under martial law, the decision will be implemented gradually with the possibility of using paper prescription forms.
We would like to remind you that by March 31, 2023, medical institutions and FOP doctors must register and start keeping electronic medical documentation in the ESOZ: electronic medical records, electronic referrals, medical reports and, in particular, electronic prescriptions.
This requirement is stipulated by the licensing conditions established by the state and applies to medical institutions and individual entrepreneurs, regardless of the level of medical care they provide, the form of ownership of the institution or its specialization. The relevant requirement also applies to all pharmacies in Ukraine.
