Maxillofacial surgeons of the Lviv “Okhmatdyt” successfully operated on a twin boy who was born with non-union of the lip, palate and alveolar process.
Boy Bohdan was born with a weight of 1800 kg, he was diagnosed with a very wide cleft lip, hard and soft palate and alveolar process. Therefore, problems with nutrition immediately arose. Parents living in Ivano-Frankivsk were informed about this defect during the ultrasound diagnosis of pregnancy.
When the parents turned to “OKHMATDYT”, maxillofacial surgeons advised them to do taping (special tapes to tighten and narrow the gap with the muscles).
“It gives a colossal effect. Bohdan’s mother was impressed with the result. They taped for 2 months. Therefore, it created favorable conditions for operative intervention. At the age of 5 months, the boy was operated on, the intervention was successful,” said maxillofacial surgeon Khrystyna Pogranichna.
