Today, all communities of Lviv region are actively forming local food reserves. This task was set to local governments by Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv Military Administration, in order to provide local residents and temporarily displaced persons with the necessary food package.
The source of funding is local budgets and humanitarian aid. Thanks to this, Lviv region will be able to provide itself with food, said the Department of Agricultural Development of the Lviv Military Administration.
“Ukraine is an export-oriented country, but we make sure that there are enough raw materials for food production to provide Ukrainians with the necessary food products. There is no threat to food shortages in the Lviv region, despite the large number of internally displaced persons. Interruptions in the supply of certain products (cereals, pasta) were possible at the beginning of the war, as some enterprises located in the eastern and central regions were suspended. However, now the situation is leveling off and our region is helping to relocate companies from other regions to safer areas. This will allow us to rhythmically provide food for the whole country, “said Tetyana Hetman, director of the agro-industrial complex department.
Now farmers are adapting to martial law. The market has also transformed. For example, just two months ago, the population consumed more fresh meat, and now the demand for canned food has increased. Accordingly, cooperation is established with processing enterprises.
We will remind that on behalf of the chief of the Lviv regional military administration Maxim Kozytsky from March 13 in area local food reserves are formed.
The recommended list of products includes: beef, pork, salt, wheat, soft drinks, tea, coffee, soups, broths (powdered, diced, etc.), yeast, baby food. At the same time, the main socially significant products are bread, flour, cereals, pasta, eggs, canned food, sugar, oil, cheese.
