In the Lviv region, a large number of fires caused by dry burning are recorded every day. Since the beginning of the year, more than 2,000 fires have been recorded in the region, most of which occurred in ecosystems
Therefore, today the Lviv Regional Military Administration held a meeting to address the problem of mass fires in the region and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The State Emergency Service urges citizens not to add work to rescuers and not to burn dry grass, especially during the war. However, the daily number of calls does not decrease, and losses, on the contrary, increase. Most fires occur in Lviv, Stryj and Yavoriv districts.
“It is important to remember that when we talk about burning dry grass, it is not just a problem of ecosystem fires, which in itself does great damage. In wartime, such acts can be seen in the context of hostilities. After all, mass fires cause the destruction or damage of civilian objects. Quite often you can see thick clouds of smoke in the sky, which increase panic in the population. It is not known for sure whether someone is burning grass or, perhaps, it is the result of a missile hit, “said Vitaliy Zahainyi, deputy head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
As a result of the meeting, a decision was made to prepare a draft order to the district military administrations and heads of territorial communities. It will discuss the need for local governments to take all necessary measures to prevent fires in specific areas. At the same time, the project will provide patrols in the communities of volunteer groups, which will also monitor fire safety.
The draft joint mandate will be prepared by the Department of Ecology, the Department of Civil Protection, the State Coinspection and the SES. Failure to comply with the instructions of local governments is subject to administrative liability – in the form of a fine. The responsibility for the piles themselves has also been strengthened.
