An entrepreneur involved in the sale of bakery products has returned nearly 5 million UAH to the state budget in taxes following the intervention of prosecutors from the Lviv region. This was made possible under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office in a criminal proceeding concerning tax evasion, according to Part 1 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The investigation revealed that over the years the entrepreneur organised a scheme of evasion, reducing the net income and reporting expenses that were not actually incurred. As a result, there was a shortfall of nearly 5 million UAH in taxes, which has now been reimbursed.
Efforts to uncover the violation were undertaken by the Main Department of the State Tax Service in the Lviv region, and the pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Economic Security in the Lviv region.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law.
