Over the past 24 hours, Lviv region’s emergency services extinguished 10 dry grass fires. These fires destroyed more than 4,900 square metres of dry grass.
In particular, 1 fire broke out in Stryi district, 1 fire in Sambir district, 2 fires in Yavoriv district, 3 fires in Drohobych district and 3 fires in Lviv district.
The Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv Oblast appeals to all residents of our region to stop burning dead wood, and remember, if you see an arson, immediately report it to the fire service and the police, even if the arsonist is your neighbour or friend!
These fires destroy not only dry vegetation and its remains, but also plants, insects, animals and birds. The fire element consumes all living things in its path.
Very often, the fire gets out of control. Such fires spread quickly, especially in windy conditions. It can be very difficult to stop a fire that has gained strength.
Do not harm yourself or others!

In addition, we remind you that setting fire to dry grass is punishable by law in the form of a fine:
- for citizens from UAH 3,060 to UAH 6,120
- for officials – UAH 15,300 to UAH 21,420
