Today, Lviv took a significant step towards modern and eco-friendly burial practices by ceremonially laying a capsule at the site of the new crematorium on the grounds of Holoskivske Cemetery.
The project aims to address several critical issues:
- Efficient use of limited urban spaces.
- Reducing the burden on existing cemeteries.
- Introducing environmentally sustainable burial practices.
The crematorium design was developed by the winners of an open architectural competition, the results of which were announced back in 2021. The project was created by a team of architects from Mariupol, who are now based in Berlin. Their concept skillfully combines contemporary aesthetics with high functional standards, meeting both ecological and aesthetic requirements.
