The Accessibility Committee of the Lviv City Council, led by Iryna Maruniak, approved a list of 81 addresses where ramps and lifts will be installed in 2025 to support wheelchair users. This initiative will cover all districts of Lviv.
Iryna Maruniak noted that over the past six years, the city’s Accessibility Program has facilitated the installation of 70 lifts and more than 100 ramps. This program is funded through the development budget of Lviv. Work in this direction will continue in 2025, subject to available funding.
The committee carefully reviewed each address to determine the need for ramps, lifts, or a combination of both, and included plans for landscaping near the buildings. The committee comprises representatives of the city administration, district offices, NGOs, deputies, and individuals with limited mobility, ensuring collaborative decision-making.
On November 28, Lviv approved an action plan for implementing the Strategy to Create a Barrier-Free Environment. Some activities will be funded by the city budget, others through grants, while training and educational initiatives will require no funding.
