Utilities will check traffic lights near educational institutions of the Drohobychska AH

This year, the new school year in hromada schools will start on 2 September. The leadership of the state and the region repeatedly emphasises and calls on the heads of educational institutions to ensure full-time education for all schoolchildren at the beginning of the school year.

Taras Kuchma, head of the hromada, has repeatedly voiced the instruction to involve as many children as possible in full-time education. We are talking about IDP children who live in our community, but still study online at schools in their hometowns. This situation needs to be changed, as online education does not produce the same quality results as full-time education.

In addition, at a weekly staff meeting on 19 August, the mayor instructed Andriy Pautinka, Director of the Department of Municipal Economy, to update the markings and check the serviceability of the traffic lights near all educational institutions and kindergartens by early September.

“The safety of children comes first for us. So we have to make sure that children cross roads in proper conditions and that neither parents nor teachers worry about them. The presence of appropriate markings and warnings – “Beware of children” or “School” – should contribute to this,” Taras Kuchma said.

In his turn, Andriy Pautynka noted that the work on renovation of pedestrian crossings near the city’s schools has already started. This week, they will start applying informational messages: “Beware of Children” and “School”.

In addition, attention will be paid to sidewalks and traffic lights near educational institutions.

The Drohobych community has 11,834 students. Of these, 505 are IDP students. For the first time, 1,000 pupils will sit at their desks on the Day of Knowledge this year.

As for the pre-school institutions of the Drohobych community, 2,581 children study there, including 135 from among the displaced.
