Drohobych Gymnasium No. 17 has undergone qualitative changes, with repairs to the primary school’s bathroom and improved conditions for students to stay in the shelter during the air raid.
According to Yaroslav Gevko, the school’s principal, the shelter was screeded, the walls were plastered, emergency exits and entrances were arranged, seats for children were installed, and the water supply was partially replaced.
All the work was carried out as part of a project aimed at improving the conditions for schoolchildren and teachers in the shelters. With the assistance of the City Council, Gymnasium No. 17 received UAH 250,000 to carry out works in the school’s shelter.
In addition, the city council funded the installation of new bathrooms in the gymnasium.
On 5 February, the head of the community Taras Kuchma, the deputy mayor for humanitarian and social relations Yuriy Kushlyk and the head of the education department Roman Hrytsay visited the school to inspect the progress of the repairs.
Taras Kuchma also recognised and presented letters of appreciation to the gymnasium staff, who contributed to the fast and high-quality performance of the work. Thus, Vasyl Sadovyi, Yevhen Senyshyn, Vasyl Kretovych, Volodymyr Ilnytskyi and Ihor Chepil were awarded with the distinctions.
Vasyl Koval, a private entrepreneur who completed the works at this facility quickly and efficiently, also received the mayor’s gratitude.
