What has been done so far and what work remains to be done?
As of today, the construction contractor is carrying out preparatory work for the concrete pavements. The installation of cornice blocks, embedded parts, side stone and waterproofing is underway. Work is also underway to fill in the bridge’s bank protection.
The Department of Road Construction of the Lviv Regional State Administration informed the Holos of Sokalshchyna about the progress of the works.
Upon completion of these works, it is planned to carry out asphalting of the bridge pavement and approaches to it, installation of outdoor lighting, metal barrier and railing fencing, road markings and road signs.
After the construction of the new bridge, it is planned to dismantle the existing old bridge. Special islands have already been arranged for this purpose.
The bridge across the Western Bug River is of great importance to the Sokal community, as it is an important transport hub that connects different parts of the city and surrounding areas.
Holos Sokalshchyny has already reported that the new bridge over the Western Bug River in Sokal will be much wider than the previous one, and the old bridge is planned to be dismantled.
As a reminder, the bridge in Sokal is located on the public road of local importance Sokal – Stoyaniv.
In 2019, it was declared an emergency. In 2023, construction work began.
The length of the new bridge crossing is 130 m. Including new approaches – 414 m.
