How Lviv citizens’ taxes help to bring victory closer: an example of the work of a strike wing
At the beginning of the year, the Lviv community donated a strike wing to our military, and today volunteers brought it to Mayor Andriy Sadovyi as a sign of gratitude to the entire community for their continued support of the military. It was this wing that flew 2,900 kilometers in the Zaporizhzhia sector and has done a lot of damage to the enemy in recent months.
“Today we have received back what we, together with the community of Lviv, sent to the guys at the front at the beginning of the year. Volunteers from Heaven’s Punishment collected the strike wing with our taxes. And this is a good example of how the taxes of Lviv residents turn Russian equipment and their military into scrap metal and fertilizer for our land. I can’t tell you how many similar airplanes are flying at this very moment and where. But believe me, the results are impressive,” said Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi.
“I would like to thank the Lviv City Council, because cooperation with the military and with manufacturers of military products is possible only because Lviv residents pay taxes. And this is a direct way to show how your contributions to the city budget turn Russian equipment and Russian occupiers into approval of our land and scrap metal for our enterprises. And this is the best thing to say. Thank you all,” said Dmytro Tarabakin, CFO of Heavenly Punishment.
According to the city’s program to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the city constantly buys or subventions for the items that are urgently needed at the front line at the request of military brigades and units. These are drones, cars, radios, and various specialized technical items. The purchases are made as part of the Lion’s Revenge initiative. In addition, the city issues grants for the production of dual-use goods, including bsps.
In July alone, the city’s community initiative purchased: 1128 drones and UAVs, 8 vehicles (cars, special equipment), 15 electronic warfare systems and other means of fighting the enemy. In total, in the first 7 months of 2024, UAH 541 million has already been allocated from the Lviv city budget for the needs of the Armed Forces.
