The Ukrainian rhythmic gymnastics team took seventh place in the group all-around final at the 2024 Olympic Games. Alina Melnyk from Lviv was a member of the team.
The first performance in the final with five hoops was incredibly clear and synchronized, so the girls received 36.550 points for this performance. The second exercise with balls and ribbons brought the team 29.150 points.
Ukraine was represented at the world’s most prestigious competitions by Kira Shyrykina, Diana Bayeva, Alina Melnyk, Valeria Peremeta, and Maria Vysochenska.
The captain of Ukraine’s rhythmic gymnastics team, Maria Vysocanska, is also from Lviv. Maria’s father, soldier Oleh Vysocansky, was able to come to Paris to watch his daughter perform at the Olympic Games. He was among the defenders of Donetsk airport, where he was seriously wounded, and since the beginning of the full-scale invasion he has returned to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As a reminder, Lviv was represented at the Olympic Games by Alina Melnyk. She became a bronze medalist at the 2023 World Championships in Valencia (three-ribbon and two-ball exercise). It was at this World Championships in Spain that the girls won a pass to the Olympic Games in Paris. Alina also won silver and bronze medals in group exercises at the European Championships in Baku and Budapest.
Alina’s coaches are Iryna Ruda and Iryna Deryugina.
