Maksym Kozytsky presented the state award to the defender of Ukraine, who returned from captivity

Dmytro Polovyan defended his native land in March 2022. He was wounded, captured and miraculously survived. Now undergoing rehabilitation.

Soldier Dmytro Polovyan was awarded the III degree Order “For Courage” for his personal courage and selfless actions in defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath.

The relevant Decree was signed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi. The high state award was presented by the head of Lviv OVA Maksym Kozytskyi.

“During our conversation, Dmytro said that he did what everyone should do. This is the position of a person who loves his native land, so he deliberately came to its defense. Battles, injuries, Russian capture and finally – return home and rehabilitation. This is a difficult path that not everyone has the strength to walk with dignity. I am glad that, in spite of everything, Dmytro is gradually adapting, doing his best to get back on his feet as soon as possible. It is a great honor for me to present the award from the President to the defender. Great respect and gratitude to parents for upbringing. And to Dmytro – a speedy recovery!”, the head of the Lviv region emphasized.

Coincidentally, Maksym Kozytskyi, in accordance with the Presidential Decree, awarded the “Honored Doctor of Ukraine” award to Colonel of the Medical Service Dmytro Los.

What is known about Dmytro Polovyan:

The boy was born in 1997 in the village of Kvasylov, in the Rivne region. By education, he is a locksmith for the repair of rolling stock. He worked on the railway. At the same time, he was engaged in social activities. In March of last year, he became a defender of the territorial integrity of Ukraine. In July, Dmytro received a severe brain injury, injuries to the chest, abdominal cavity with damage to internal organs, spine, and lower limbs. In such a difficult condition, he was in Russian captivity for several months.

In October 2022, Dmytro was returned from captivity in a serious condition along with other 19 servicemen. Since then, his rehabilitation has been ongoing. At first, he underwent treatment in Zaporizhzhia, from where the soldier was transferred to one of the medical institutions of the Lviv region. Now the boy is in the final stage of treatment, little by little he is starting to walk again.
