The mayor of Lebedyn, Drohobych’s sister city, Oleksandr Baklykov, died in the war

The mayor of Lebedyn, Sumy region, Oleksandr Baklykov, died in the war with the Russian occupiers. The head of Lebedyn joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the fall of 2022, serving in the 47th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The soldier was killed while performing a combat mission.

Ukraine has lost a Hero and a Patriot. I still can’t believe that my colleague and friend Oleksandr Baklykov, the mayor of Lebedyn, Sumy region, died at the front,” Yuriy Bova, mayor of Trostyanets, Sumy region, wrote on Facebook on Tuesday night.

Oleksandr Baklykov was born in Lebedyn, Sumy region. From 2015 to 2022, he served as the mayor of Lebedyn. In September 2022, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and on the evening of April 15, 2024, the community was shocked by the sad news of his tragic death.

On July 22, 2022, during a visit to the city of Kotermak, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Drohobych and Lebedyn.

The Mayor of Drohobych Taras Kuchma, the Executive Committee of the Drohobych City Council, and the Secretary of the Council Orest Karakevych express their sincere condolences to the family, relatives, friends, and relatives.
