Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to defender Valeriy Ishchuk

On Friday, 7 February, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Valeriy Ishchuk, who gave his life defending Ukraine from Russian occupiers.

Prayer and farewell to the soldier will begin at 13:45 in the Church of the Holy Eucharist of the UGCC (1 Velychkovskoho Street).

The funeral service will take place at 15:00 in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul. Afterwards, at approximately 15:30, there will be a citywide farewell ceremony on Rynok Square.

Valeriy Ishchuk will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.

He studied at the secondary school № 100 in Lviv. Lviv. During his studies, he was active and participated in school activities. In 2001-2006, he studied at the Lviv Cooperative Vocational College of Economics and Law and the Faculty of Economics at Lviv Polytechnic National University.

He took an active part in the events of the Orange Revolution and later started volunteering to support his friends at the front.

Over the following years, he changed several professions and held positions in a number of financial institutions in Lviv. According to his family and friends, “he was a cheerful, extremely bright man with a big sensitive heart and indescribable kindness. But most of all, he was distinguished by his immense courage, bravery and fearlessness. People used to say about him: “Irreplaceable people do exist!”.

Valerii Ishchuk “gave everything to his family, was an exceptionally responsible and loving husband and father to his sons and his wife’s daughter”. He was “a jack of all trades, he was good at everything he did”. In his spare time, he loved to drive and listen to music.

After the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he did not hesitate to defend his homeland from the Russian invaders and joined the 125th separate territorial defence brigade of the regional directorate “West” of the Territorial Defence Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He never abandoned his comrades in arms, repeatedly pulling them out of “hell”. His relatives say: “He really loved his job, ‘burned with it’ with all his heart, despite the great fatigue of daily work.”

Valeriy Ishchuk is survived by his wife, parents, sister and children.
