In Europe, the production of traditional boilers was banned more than 10 years ago. From August 29, 2022, the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on the approval of the Technical Regulation on eco-design requirements for space heaters and combined heaters entered into force, in particular, it is prohibited to introduce non-energy-efficient convection boilers into the market of Ukraine. Safety
Condensing boilers are much safer than traditional ones. In them, combustion chambers are installed exclusively of the closed type, while in convection ones – more often than not, they are open. This minimizes the likelihood of carbon monoxide poisoning. During the combustion of fuel in a traditional boiler, carbon dioxide and oxides of nitrogen, sulfur, and phosphorus are released, which, combining with water vapor, form poisonous acids. In condensing boilers, these harmful substances are collected in a special tank and are not released into the environment.
In addition, a gas boiler with a condensing system produces significantly less soot and solid residues, which also reduces maintenance costs.
Economy
The cost of a condensing boiler is higher than a convection boiler, but during use the funds are compensated by minimizing gas costs – up to 25% of the fuel consumed. Also, the condensing boiler economically uses electricity. This is due to the fact that the heat exchanger is made of tubes of large diameters, which reduces resistance, so the pump works less and turns on less often, which is an important factor in the current situation.
