In the Lviv region, more than 80% of cattle, sheep, and goats are kept in private households.
Milk production is a high indicator. In Lviv region, it is almost 90%. That is why the registration of farm animals in the Unified State Register of Animals is mandatory for all households that keep animals.
In the region, the identified number of cattle, sheep and goats owned by the population is slightly more than 55% of the available livestock. This percentage of livestock owners has access to state support programs for the livestock sector. At the same time, identification of farm animals means proper control over animal health and production of high-quality safe livestock products.
“State support programs are now implemented through information resources that provide access to all registers. And livestock owners who keep livestock registered in the Livestock Register have a chance to participate in a number of programs to support livestock owners and receive significant financial support from the state,” commented Tetiana Getman, Director of the Department.
In order to identify and register animals on an individual’s farm, the owner of the animal must contact the state veterinary institution at the place of residence or a structural unit of the State Enterprise “Agency for Identification and Registration of Animals”.
