Harvesting of early grain, leguminous crops and rape in the fields of Lviv Region is nearing completion. This year, the above-mentioned crops were sown on an area of 217,000 hectares, and more than 1 million tons of grain were threshed.
This was reported in the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of Lviv Oblast.
According to operational information, as of today, August 17, in all categories of farms in the region, early grain and leguminous crops have already been harvested on an area of more than 168,000 hectares (75.2% of the sown area), having threshed 840,000 tons of grain, the yield was 51 quintals per hectare Compared to last year, as of this date, 164.5 thousand hectares were harvested.
Agricultural enterprises harvested more than 76 thousand hectares (70.6% of the area) of early grain and leguminous crops, threshing 422.4 thousand tons of grain. The yield was 55.4 t/ha. From this group of crops, winter wheat was collected on an area of almost 58 thousand hectares (80%) and more than 333 thousand tons of grain were threshed with a yield of 56.7 t/ha. On average, the yield is 4% lower than last year, but the agrarians of the Chervonohrad (60.4 t/ha), Sambir (57.4 t/ha), and Zolochiv (57.3 t/ha) districts received a higher yield than the regional average.
From the group of technical crops, rapeseed (winter and spring) was collected on an area of 49 thousand hectares (90%), having threshed 164 thousand tons of grain with a yield of 33.5 t/ha.
“During the last few days of sunny weather, we have caught up with the pace of harvesting and are even ahead of last year’s indicators by 5%. In addition, 72% of the total amount of grain collected is wheat (winter and spring), of which 720,000 tons have already been collected in the commercial and private sectors,” commented the director of the department, Tetyana Hetman, on the progress of the harvest.
Along with harvesting, areas are being prepared for sowing winter crops for the 2024 harvest. The projected areas have not yet been fully formed, but some farms have already started sowing winter rapeseed.
