The Open Draughts Championship of Lviv Region-64 was held on May 10-12 in Lviv at the Lviv British School.
The competition was attended by 18 draughtsmen from Lviv, Volyn and Ternopil regions, including 1 master of sports and 3 candidates for master of sports.
The competition was held in the individual standings according to the Swiss system in 7 rounds of two games. Time control was 30 minutes + 15 seconds per move until the end of the game.
As a result of the intense struggle, Ruslan Monych, a promising first-rate player from Turka (coached by Bohdan Moskal), became the champion of the region. Without losing a single game and scoring 12 points out of 14 possible, Ruslan confidently took first place and fulfilled the standard of a candidate for master of sports.
Ivan Ilnytsky, a native of the village of Husne and president of the Lviv Regional Checkers Federation, took second place with 10 points.
The third place was taken by the most titled player – master of sports Ivan Butlyar from Zhovkva, who has 9 points.
Among the women who competed alongside men, Solomiya Kunanets, a promising young checker player from Yavoriv, became the regional champion.
The second place and a silver medal went to Olena Cherniak, a guest from Kovel, a candidate for master of sports in chess.
Natalia Ilnytska from Dubliany won a bronze medal.
