The Lviv Regional Council held the first meeting of the working group on the development of the Comprehensive Program for the Popularization of the Ukrainian Language in the Lviv Region

The members of the two permanent deputy commissions of the Lviv Regional Council on culture, information policy and promotion and on education, science and innovation, present at the meeting, discussed proposals for involving representatives of the professional, scientific and public environment in the working group. Therefore, the working group decided to turn to leading educational institutions and institutions, well-known linguists, educational and cultural institutions of the region, public and, in particular, youth organizations to submit their proposals to the program project.

“We appeal to leading experts and institutions involved in the popularization and development of the Ukrainian language. We are currently collecting their proposals and developing a project of the Ukrainian language support program in the Lviv Region, and we hope that in September we will come to the final version, which we will propose to adopt at the session of the Lviv Regional Council” – emphasized the deputy head of the working group for the development of the program, the head of the commission on cultural issues, information policy and promotion Sviatoslav Sheremet.

We will remind you that the initiative to develop a regional program to support the Ukrainian language was previously discussed by the head of the Lviv Regional Council Iryna Hrymak with the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language Taras Kremen.
