On May 5 and 6, Lesya Theater will host the premiere screenings of a play about Lesya Ukrainka called “Lesya. History”. The new production was prepared by an international team.
Lesya Ukrainka is the focus of the play. The production is based on the poet’s letters, which gives an opportunity to get as close as possible to the figure of Lesya Ukrainka. Actors and actresses of the Lesya Theater will address the audience with the words that Lesya Ukrainka wrote in her letters. In addition, the performance “Lesia. History” is also based on Lesya Ukrainka’s poem “Robert Bruce, King of Scotland”.
“Lesia Ukrainka created an original story – her story. That is why we created a play about her and what you might not have known about her before, for example, that Lesya Ukrainka resisted Russian colonialism, contributed to the preservation and research of cultural heritage, was stylish and traveled a lot,” the Lesia Theater notes .
