“Fluidity of memory”: Vlodko Kaufman presented a performance for the 79th anniversary of the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people

Today, Lviv region honors the memory of the victims of the Crimean Tatar genocide.

On this occasion, on the territory of the Memorial Museum of Totalitarian Regimes “Territory of Terror” in Lviv, a performance “Fluidity of Memory” was held. Its author is Vlodko Kaufman, a Ukrainian artist, painter, graphic artist, performer, author of many art projects and a participant in personal and group exhibitions.

Organizers – the Crimean House in Lviv.

Among the participants of the event are the deputy head of the Lviv OVA Ivan Sobko, representatives of the department for culture, nationalities and religions of the Lviv OVA.

As part of the event, the artist laid out on white sheets of paper various lost things that people use in everyday life: a part of a door lock, jewelry, glasses, spoons, locks, etc.

“We must remember our history, even if it is painful, and we reflexively do not want to immerse ourselves in unpleasant memories. The smallest details of the past, seemingly insignificant at first glance, those that we forget or even reject, that remain for us “white spots” – are an inseparable part of the fluidity of our life, passed coordinates on the trajectory of movement that brought us to our present and will influence our future “, the organizers noted.

It is symbolic that the author laid out the objects of the performance on 79 sleepers of the railway track. After all, exactly 79 years ago, accusing them of non-existent crimes, the Soviet regime broke the fate of about 200,000 Crimean Tatars in three days. They were evicted from Crimea. Almost half died.
