Open international music marathon in memory of Vasyl Slipak begins

Marathon events will take place in Lviv from June 29.

The seventh Open International Music Marathon in memory of opera singer, Hero of Ukraine Vasyl Slipak Slipak “W LIVE” will last from June 10 to July 2. The Hero singer will be remembered in Ukraine, France, and Britain. Musicians will gather on world stages to honor the musician and soldier who died in eastern Ukraine in the Russian-Ukrainian war. The marathon is open for joining and witnessing our common goal: celebrating the light that Vasyl Slipak carried and its reflections in new ideas, a new generation of musicians.

“It will be held under the slogan “In the light of the Meteor” – as you know, celestial bodies burn up when falling, gaining enormous speed. And the brightest star shines in its last time: illuminating the way for all those who were destined to follow it. To all of us, Vasyl Slipak’s contemporaries, and supporters of his invaluable contribution to Ukrainian history, his talent will shine for a long time and inspire further struggle. The figure of a Ukrainian is an example of a thirst for a free life, unbridled energy and a unique modern personality,” the Lviv National Philharmonic named after M. Skoryk.

The main topics of the Slipak Marathon are:

commemoration of artists who died for Ukraine (the Mariupol “Renaissance” orchestra, conducted by Vasyl Kryachko, will perform at the National Philharmonic of Ukraine on June 10);
a mention of those composers close to Vasyl, whose hearts could not stand it during the war (the “Phoenix” String Quartet will play the music of Hanna Havrylets and Oleksandr Kozarenko on June 30 in Lviv);
reflections of art on the essence of life and the hope that remains for us (Gustav Mahler’s Fourth Symphony will be performed in the program of the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Lviv National Philharmonic on June 29),
lust for life, modern energy, the desire to experiment – this is the performance of the famous Ukrainian composer Alla Zagaykevych in Paris on June 30, the chamber and orchestral programs of the Lviv National Philharmonic on July 1 and 2, which crown the Marathon. Its Prelude was already a chamber performance of Ukrainian musicians in London on May 20 with a classical program of Ukrainian and European music.

Among other events is the Kyiv screening of the film “MYTH” directed by Leonid Kanter and Ivan Yasniy, which at one time really impressed many viewers not only informatively, but also emotionally.
