In Lviv, restoration of balconies in landmark buildings is being resumed in cooperation with residents

Today, the session of the city council approved the program for co-financing the restoration of balconies of residential buildings – monuments of cultural heritage in 2023-2025. As explained in the historical environment protection department, new applications from residents will not be accepted at the moment, but those submitted earlier will be processed.

“Now we will not accept new applications from residents, but we will process those submitted in 2020-2021. Also, the previously prepared design and estimate documentation needs to be adjusted. Today, the objects at 8 addresses remain relevant for restoration: st. Gogolya, 10, str. Cyril and Methodius, 29, st. I. Ohienko, 6, str. I. Franka, 4, str. V. Vinnichenko, 26, str. I. Nechuya-Levytskogo, 21, str. D. Dontsova, 10 and St. Zarytskikh, 8”, said Marianna Moroz, head of the historical environment protection department of the LMR.

First of all, they plan to resume the already started restoration work in building No. 10 on the street. Gogol.

The financial share of residents participating in the Program remains unchanged – UAH 10,000 for the restoration of one balcony. The rest of the cost of the works is paid by the city. Also in the area of responsibility of the city is the production and examination of design and estimate documentation, conducting tender purchases, concluding contracts with contractors.

In addition, the coordinator of the Program will be the Department of Protection of the Historical Environment, and the executor will be the LKP “Heritage Bureau”. The “Heritage Bureau” also coordinates co-financing programs for the restoration of gates and windows in historic buildings, as well as the replacement of plastic windows with wooden ones.

As recalled in the Department of Historical Environment Protection of the LMR, the Program for Co-financing the Restoration of Balconies in Residential Buildings as Monuments of Architecture was approved in 2019 and was in effect during 2020-2021. Then, in cooperation with residents, 5 balconies and two bay windows in the building were restored at Stetska Street, 4. Last year, the program was suspended.
