On October 29, the opening of a personal exhibition of the well-known Drohobych art critic, restoration artist, icon painter, poet and musician Lev Skop called “Theatre of the Absurd” took place in the gallery halls.
Father Vasyl Polyanko began the event with a prayer in memory of Tetyana Duman, the artist’s wife. The opening of the exposition was attended by Yuriy Kushlyk, the deputy mayor for humanitarian and social relations, soldiers, volunteers and friends of the artist, with whom the artist has been traveling to the East since 2014 and supports our military in every way and paints icons for them.
“I live by war, except for it I have nothing now” – this phrase sounded more than once from the mouth of Leo the Scorpius. Many pleasant words of gratitude for the author’s work were heard that day from people with whom Levko Skop’s fate brought him together on his creative path.
Admiration of Lev Skop’s work was expressed by Yuriy Kushlyk, the deputy mayor for humanitarian and social relations, Ihor Shimko, director of the DDHSH, well-known volunteer Volodymyr Baranyak and others. At the end, Lilia Kobilnyk performed several musical compositions.
In addition, the exposition of the “Theatre of the Absurd” exhibition is a chaos in which each work of art is a separate story. There are no icons here, this is the full self-expression of an artist in search of self-knowledge. This period of Lev Skop’s work is characterized by a surrealist direction. His works are reminiscent of the works of Hieronymus Bosch, Salvador Dali and Western Ukrainian icons of the 17th century, but it is more about a successful synergy and his own unique style.
The exhibition was already on display at the Korsaki Museum of Modern Ukrainian Art in Lutsk and became a new look at Lev Skop’s work.
