On the initiative of a musician from Bakhmut in the Drohobych region, a collection of local folk songs is being prepared

The other day, connoisseurs of local gaivok gathered to record songs for the upcoming collection

How exactly the gaivkas performed in the village of Ulychny of the Truskavets community is fading into oblivion, so it is important to take care of the publication of the collection “Ulychna gaivkas”. The teacher of the modern music studio of the Bakhmut City Center for Children and Youth, the author of the Bakhmut national anthem, Volodymyr Yepik, who took refuge in the village of Ulichne, came up with this initiative.

This was reported in the Truskavets City Council.

On Sunday, June 18, people who knew how the songs used to sound, which were performed only during the Easter holidays, gathered in the village library of Ulichny to record the gaivoks. These people are not professional singers, but for Yaroslava Halyk, Iryna Syrvatka, Svitlana Pylypiv, Rozalia Halyk, Lesya Kindrakevich, singing and folk traditions are a great love. Now the library staff together with Volodymyr Yepik will work on the publication of their small but valuable collection “Ulychnensky gaivky”.

“Today, when Ukraine is completely rid of the heavy and long-lasting Russian oppression, we feel the need for the revival of national folk traditions and traditional culture more than ever. Among them is the tradition of driving hawks,” said the Truskavets City Council.
