An attempt to smuggle a narcotic substance across the Ukrainian-Polish border was prevented at the Krakivets checkpoint.
A 61-year-old native of Sumy was heading to Poland this afternoon. The driver of the Volkswagen chose the “green corridor” lane for control. During the control, a border guard sniffer dog trained to search for narcotic substances was triggered.
During the joint inspection with operational officers and customs officers, the man confessed that the day before he had swallowed a package of hashish weighing more than 40 grams. The Ukrainian intended to transport the dope for personal use.
The border guards informed the relevant law enforcement agencies about this fact. Responsibility for this offense is provided for in Art. 305 of the Criminal Code “Smuggling of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues or precursors or counterfeit medicines”.
