Under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor’s Office of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a forester of one of the state-owned enterprises of the Carpathian region of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine was notified of suspicion of soliciting and receiving an unlawful benefit (Part 3, Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the official demanded and received a bribe from a local resident for the unimpeded release of wood and its removal from the forestry territory.
Lisnychy sold wood without appropriate documentation and official payment to the company’s account.
The law enforcement officers detained the suspect under Art. 208 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine upon receipt of 20,000 hryvnias.
Investigative actions are ongoing, a number of examinations have been scheduled.
Currently, the detainee has been removed from his post.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region, according to the materials of the Ukrainian SSR in Lviv region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
