Under the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a 43-year-old resident of Vinnytsia region was exposed and served a notice of suspicion. He is charged with organizing the illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine (Part 3 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the suspect organized a scheme of illegal crossing of the state border by persons liable for military service to Hungary during martial law.
At a meeting with the “client”, the suspect provided details of the smuggling and gave instructions. In particular, the man had to get to Khust (Zakarpattia region), where he would be met by other people who were supposed to ensure that the “client” was escorted beyond the checkpoints. After crossing the border illegally, he had to inform the police or the Hungarian border guard service that he was a refugee. This way, the man would not be deported.
The price of this service was 8,000 euros.
The defendant was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine while receiving the declared funds.
A custody was chosen as a measure of restraint.
The investigative actions are ongoing. All persons involved in the crime are being identified.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region with the operational support of the Strategic Investigations Department in Lviv region of the State Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
