Three Lviv residents aged 18 to 34 were exposed by operatives of the Drug Crime Department in Lviv region jointly with operatives of the Criminal Analysis Department and investigators of the Serious Crimes Investigation Department (detectives) of the Lviv Police Investigation Department, under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
It was established that the offenders organized a scheme for the sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, in particular, “amphetamine”, “cannabis” and “MDMA”, in the territory of Lviv and the region by means of “bookmarks” and using the Internet.
The law enforcement officers conducted authorized searches at the suspects’ residences, garages and cars, during which they found and seized packages and pre-packaged ziplock bags with substances similar to “cannabis”, “amphetamine”, “MDMA”, packaging equipment, as well as draft records and significant amounts of money in various currencies, proceeds of illegal activities.
All seized items were sent for examination to the Lviv Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
Three offenders were detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The searches and detentions were carried out with the force support of the Special Forces Battalion of the Lviv Police.
Investigators served the detainees a notice of suspicion of committing criminal offenses under Part 2, Part 3 of Article 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided by the sanctions of the articles is imprisonment for a term of nine to twelve years with confiscation of property.
