The road accident occurred on 4 March at around 12:10 a.m. on the Kyiv-Chop motorway near the village of Lyubyntsi.
As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, the driver of an Audi, a 55-year-old resident of a village in the district, lost control of the vehicle and slid into a ditch. As a result of the collision, the driver and his passenger, a 59-year-old female villager, were injured and taken to hospital.
In addition, it was established that the driver of the Audi was driving the vehicle in a state of intoxication.
Investigators of the Stryi District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for up to three years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of three to five years.
The driver of the car was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint.
Pre-trial investigation is underway, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
