Zaporizzhya resident sells firearms and ammunition in Lviv region

Under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Region Prosecutor’s Office, a 26-year-old man was exposed and served a notice of suspicion of illegal acquisition, storage, carrying and sale of ammunition and firearms (Part 1 Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the suspect set up an illegal scheme for the sale of firearms and ammunition in Ukraine.

He searched for potential buyers and sold the goods in person. He accepted payment in cash.

Law enforcement officers conducted operational purchases and recorded the illegal sale of weapons and ammunition by the suspect. He was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine after receiving money for another sale of ammunition.

During the searches at the man’s place of residence, the SBU found and seized items similar to hand grenades, grenade bodies of various types with fuses, grenade fuses, a rifle, a machine gun, magazines for rifles, ammunition, as well as cash, bank cards, mobile phones.

The issue of choosing a custody as a measure of restraint is currently being decided.

Investigative actions are ongoing, a number of necessary examinations have been ordered, the ways of supplying weapons and the involvement of other persons in the crime are being established.

The operation was conducted by prosecutors jointly with investigators of the Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine with the operational support of the Strategic Investigations Department in Lviv region of the State Secret Service of the National Police of Ukraine.

Note: According to Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
