A 37-year-old resident of Luhansk Oblast was convicted of intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm that led to the death of the victim (part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) following a public indictment by the prosecutors of the Drohobytsk District Prosecutor’s Office.
The court sentenced him to 7 years and 6 months of imprisonment.
Prosecutors proved in court that in September of this year, in one of the sanatoriums of Truskavets, a man beat his roommate to death.
The night before, the accused himself drank alcoholic beverages in the sanatorium room where he shared his 36-year-old wife and her young son.
When the victim returned home, a verbal conflict arose between the roommates based on jealousy. In the course of the dispute, the defendant began to hit the woman with his fists, which caused her to fall to the floor. Regardless, he continued to beat her.
As a result of her injuries, the latter died on the spot.
The accused is currently in custody.
The court verdict becomes legally binding after the expiry of the appeal period.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of police department No. 2 of the Drohobytsky district police department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region.
