Under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Region Prosecutor’s Office, the deputy head of a scientific institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was exposed and served a notice of suspicion of receiving an unlawful benefit (Part 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the suspect demanded and received a UAH 31,500 bribe from an entrepreneur for the transfer of premises for use before the auction and conclusion of a lease agreement.
The premises in question were warehouses with an area of 370 m2, which were on the balance sheet of the institution.
The official was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine after receiving the bribe.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is carried out by investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region, with operational support provided by the Strategic Investigations Department in Lviv region of the State Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
