A 65-year-old man was found guilty of domestic violence (Article 126-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) following a public accusation by the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office.
He was sentenced to 1 year and 2 months of imprisonment.
The prosecutor proved in court that the convict often abused alcohol and systematically committed psychological violence against his wife.
In particular, this was expressed in verbal insults, which in turn led to moral and psychological suffering, deterioration of the victim’s quality of life. At the same time, for any remarks in his direction, the defendant threatened with physical violence. All this caused the woman constant fears for her own safety.
It should be noted that the man had previously been convicted of a similar crime, but he did not take the path of correction.
Therefore, the court agreed with the arguments of the prosecutor and made the appropriate decision.
