The SBU eliminated a corruption scheme organized in one of the healthcare institutions of Lviv region. Doctors illegally produced “documents” that allowed citizens of Ukraine, including persons of conscription age, to obtain disability to avoid mobilization.
This was reported by the SBU Office in Lviv region.
It was established that the offenders falsified medical reports of potential conscripts to establish their disability group. This allowed the latter to avoid mobilization on the grounds of being unfit for military service for health reasons.
The law enforcement documented this illegal activity and detained a health care worker red-handed while receiving a USD 1200 bribe.
The woman was a 50-year-old resident of the region – a family doctor who previously held the position of head of the MCC of one of the central hospitals in the region.
The woman was immediately served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an unlawful benefit by an official, by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, combined with extortion of unlawful remuneration).
During the urgent investigative actions conducted at the workplace, the detainee was found to have USD 5,000. According to preliminary data, these are bribes that the woman received for 4 hours of work.
In addition, searches were conducted at the suspect’s place of residence, where they found and seized
more than 30 thousand US dollars and 4 thousand euros, the origin of which is being investigated
envelopes with different amounts of currency with personal data of male persons on them;
as well as draft records of disability and other medical documents confirming the illegal activity.
The court imposed a custody as a measure of restraint with an alternative to bail.
The investigation is ongoing. Other persons involved in the illegal scheme are being identified.
