The 31-year-old resident of the district center faces up to ten years in prison for the crime.
According to law enforcement officers, on April 2, around 3:00 p.m., an intruder entered the apartment of one of the buildings located on Sholom Aleichem Street in Drohobych. The door to the apartment was open. Being unnoticed, the man went into the room and saw a laptop on the table – he hid it under his jacket and went to the exit.
At that time, the 65-year-old owner and her 17-year-old granddaughter were in the apartment, whom the intruder met at the front door – he pushed the girl away and ran away.
Detectives of the criminal police, investigators and employees of other services of the Drohobytsk District Police Department were involved in solving the crime. The law enforcement officers carried out a complex of operational and search measures, studied the recordings of video surveillance cameras installed as part of the “Safe Lviv Region” program, established the location of the intruder and promptly detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Physical evidence was seized from him.
The detainee was identified as a 31-year-old resident of Drohobych, who had previously been held criminally responsible for theft and robbery. Investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Drogobytsk District Prosecutor’s Office, informed him of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 4 of Article 186 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of seven to ten years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the perpetrator.
The law enforcement officers remind once again that in the conditions of martial law, the maximum punishments are provided for committing theft, robbery, robbery, extortion, as well as for misappropriation, waste of property or possession of it by abuse of official position.
