Under the procedural guidance of the Galician District Prosecutor’s Office of Lviv, two doctors of one of Lviv’s medical institutions were notified of suspicion. They are charged with extorting and receiving illegal benefits (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, officials organized a scheme to obtain illegal benefits from conscripts.
For this purpose, they produced fictitious medical documentation, on the basis of which the medical and social expert commission established the disability group. In turn, the men could cross the border unhindered and evade service in the Armed Forces.
The price of the service was USD 300 per person.
Investigations are ongoing, all involved persons are being identified. The question of choosing preventive measures for the suspect, as well as removing them from their positions, is being resolved.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the Main Department of the National Police in the Lviv Region under the operational support of the Migration Police Department of the Main Department of the National Police in the Lviv Region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
