The prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office completed the pre-trial investigation and sent the indictment to the court against the former patrol police inspector of the police department of one of the regional departments of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv Region. He is accused of obtaining an illegal benefit for himself for influencing the decision-making by a person authorized to perform state functions, combined with the demand for such a benefit (Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that the accused, while serving as a patrol police inspector, demanded and received an illegal benefit from a local resident.
For $1,000, he promised to “solve the matter” with the closing of the criminal proceedings and the subsequent removal of the seizure from the property.
The man was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, after receiving an unlawful benefit.
Currently, the suspect has already been released from law enforcement agencies.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the territorial department of the SBU in the city of Lviv, under the operational support of the SBU Department in the Lviv region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
